Sourdough is the new black and we can’t stop obsessing over it. Join chef Ishika Saraf as she takes you through an informative class on the much-loved and trending healthy bread.


*What we will learn:
1. Learn how to make and maintain your sourdough starter or levian 

  • Maintenance of starter 
  • Drying of starter 
  • Storing the starter 

2. Making sourdough in interesting flavour combinations, which will include

  • Rosemary Garlic Loaf 
  • Sourdough Boule
  • Sourdough Focaccia 

3. Sourdough scoring 

4. Making whole-grain loaves with your levian and helping with any troubleshooting


*About the dishes:
This class will help you deep-dive into the world of sourdoughs with an A-Z class on the bake, which will begin with learning the key to good sourdough: the starter. This will be followed by a session on maintaining the starter, and drying and proofing it. You will then be taught how to put the starter to use and infuse interesting flavours into your sourdough, such as with demos on a Rosemary Garlic Loaf, a Sourdough Boule, which is the classic, crusty bread and Sourdough Focaccia. The class will also include a primer on unique ways to utilise the excesses, like by reusing the levian/starter to make whole-grain loaves.

*About the chef:
Ishika currently runs The Bakehouse by Ishika Saraf and is a visiting faculty at the Institute of Bakery and Pastry Arts, Delhi. She works with the Verushcka Foundation teaching differently abled children baking. She has been baking professionally for the past 10 years and loves to teach. She has trained under Chef Nick of the White Ombre in Singapore and taught at the Mountain Institute Culinary Art program in Arizona. She was also a finalist at the Pastry Queen India Competition, 2019. Join this class with her to learn all that there is to know about the art of sourdough baking.
